FAQs
Where is Swim School held?
Swim School is held at Dartmouth's Karl Michael Pool located inside Alumni Gym at 16 E Wheelock Street.
Refund Policy
Lessons are non-refundable. In the case of cancellation, please contact Savannah and a credit may be applied for a future session on a case-by-case basis.
Where does my child change?
Please arrive in your swim suit. Locker room facilities are easily crowded.
Are parents allowed on deck?
No, this is detrimental to the learn-to-swim process. If you are signed up for the in water Parent-Child lessons, then be prepared to be in the pool with your child. Parents are however expected to be in attendance in the stands for the duration of each lesson. In the event your child needs to use the restroom, we will ask you to accompany them.
What should my child wear/bring?
An appropriate swim suit must be worn. No street clothes. Swim caps and goggles are recommended but are not provided. Bring your own towel for after the lesson.
Who will be teaching the swim lessons?
Current members of the men's and women's Dartmouth College Swimming and Diving Team.
What level should I sign my child up for?
For returning participants, sign up for the previously recommended level. For first time participants, read the level descriptions and select where you feel your child currently fits. If torn between two levels, please choose the lower level. On the first day of swim school, instructors will adjust levels as needed.
What are the child to instructor ratios?
Levels 1, 2, & 3 operate on a 2-to-1 ratio; Levels 4, 5, & 6 operate on a 3-to-1 ratio.
If my child misses one of the days of Swim School, will the cost for the week be prorated?
No, we do not prorate for missed days.
